LAHORE: Capital City Police Officer Bilal Siddique Kamyana on Wednesday said that a zero-tolerance policy would be enforced against aerial firing, one-wheeling and other illegal activities on the eve of the New Year.

In a statement issued here, Bilal Siddique Kamyana said that special police teams had been constituted to maintain law and order during New Year celebrations. He warned youth to refrain from one-wheeling, motorcycle alterations, racing and hooliganism, adding that strict action would be taken in accordance with the law against violators.

The CCPO made it clear that lawbreakers would be dealt with strictly and no one would be allowed to disrupt public order.

He said that pickets would be set up at various locations across the city on New Year’s night to prevent aerial firing, one-wheeling, racing and disorderly conduct, while teams of the Dolphin Squad, Police Response Unit (PRU) and Elite Force would carry out patrolling in the provincial capital.

The CCPO further directed strict action against mechanics who carry out illegal motorcycle alterations. He said that indiscriminate action would also be ensured against elements involved in the sale and purchase of narcotics. He added that special measures have taken to ensure smooth traffic flow during New Year celebrations.

Bilal Siddique Kamyana urged the citizen to uphold the rule of law and avoid all illegal and unethical activities.
