ISLAMABAD: Criminals looted cash and valuables and stole motorcycles and cars worth millions of rupees in more than 49 incidents of robbery, dacoity, snatching, and carjacking reported to different police stations across the federal capital during the past week.

Data compiled by Business Recorder shows that the cases included over 25 motorcycle thefts, six car thefts, 12 robberies, and six street crime incidents involving the snatching of cash and mobile phones. The incidents were reported at various police stations across the city.

During the period under review, criminal activity remained particularly high within the jurisdictions of Shehzad Town, Khanna, Industrial Area, Aabpara, Ramana, and Humak police stations.

One of the most shocking incidents of the week was reported from Islamabad’s Sector G-8, where a young Chinese woman died after jumping from the rooftop of a residential building. Police identified the deceased as Wan Ru Ping, who had arrived in Pakistan on a visit visa. Preliminary investigations indicated that she sustained fatal head injuries as a result of the fall. The body was moved to a nearby hospital for medico-legal formalities.
