ISLAMABAD: On the eve of the 18th martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, Lightstone Publishers, Karachi, on Friday announced the publication of ‘She Walked into the Fire’, the biography of the former prime minister written by her longtime spokesperson and former senator, Farhatullah Babar.

According to the summary printed on the book’s cover, the memoir contains startling and consequential revelations, including Benazir Bhutto’s secret back-channel negotiations in Washington. The cover also features a coloured portrait of Benazir Bhutto, a brief synopsis of the book, and endorsements by several eminent national figures.

Endorsing the book, former Balochistan chief minister Sardar Akhtar Mengal said, “When she lived, hope lived with her, and the day she left, something in our spirit fell silent. There will ever be only one Benazir—fearless, irreplaceable—who truly understood the injustices endured by Pakistan’s smaller provinces.”

Farhatullah Babar captures not just her political journey, but the heartbeat of a woman who carried the dreams of a nation. It is a poignant reminder of a void that can never be filled.”

National Democratic Movement (NDM) leader and former senator Afrasiab Khattak termed the book “a fearless tribute to a fearless woman—from the scribe who wrote her words,” calling it “a valuable gift to coming generations.”
