Prompt responses to suspicious activities: IGP reviews overall law and order situation in ICT

ISLAMABAD: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi on Thursday reviewed the overall law and order situation in the federal capital and issued directives to strengthen the intelligence-sharing mechanism to ensure prompt responses to suspicious activities.

The directives were issued during a meeting on law and order, which was attended by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Qazi Ali Raza and other senior police officers, an official said.

During the meeting, the IGP assessed the prevailing security situation and reviewed ongoing crime-prevention measures. Discussions focused on the security of sensitive locations and key public places, effective operational planning, internal discipline within the police force, and improving the overall performance of officers.

The IGP emphasised the need to further integrate and enhance intelligence-sharing systems to enable the timely identification of potential threats and swift action against criminal elements. He directed officers to utilize all available resources to ensure effective law enforcement.

He stressed that the visible presence of police personnel should instill a sense of security among citizens and act as a deterrent to criminals, adding that the protection of life and property remains the top priority of the Islamabad Police.

Meanwhile, following special directives from SSP Operations Qazi Ali Raza, security arrangements at various churches across the district were inspected. During the visits, the SSP met with officers and personnel deployed on duty, reviewed their performance, and issued instructions to further strengthen security measures.

He inspected security deployments at entry and exit points, parking areas, and surrounding vicinities of the churches, along with the overall security plan.

While interacting with church administrations, SSP Operations stated that Islamabad Police is actively ensuring the protection of life and property of citizens belonging to all religions without any discrimination.

He urged the public to cooperate fully with the police and report any suspicious person or activity immediately to the nearest police station or through the police helpline, Pucar-15, emphasizing that public-police cooperation is essential for maintaining peace and security.
