LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Monday sought reply from the Punjab government on two applications challenging the Punjab Regulation of Kite Flying Ordinance 2025 till December 22.
The applications were filed in an earlier pending constitutional petition by the Judicial Activism Panel (JAP) that already assailed the ordinance. Earlier, the petitioner’s counsel argued that kite flying holds deep historical and cultural significance.
He contended that the ordinance failed to clearly define non-hazardous material and effective mechanisms for enforcement. He said the faulty legislation endangered the right to life, particularly in view of past fatalities caused by metallic and chemical kite strings.
