LAHORE: Ghulam Murtaza Shah, father of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Punjab General Secretary Syed Hassan Murtaza, passed away on Monday after a prolonged illness. He was 89.
Funeral prayers were offered at Imambargah Jagir Ali Akbar in Chiniot, followed by burial at the Darbar of his grandfather, Amjad Pir Syed Shah Daulat Bukhari, in Raju Sadat. A large number of relatives, PPP leaders and local notables attended the funeral. The Qul will be held on Wednesday, December 10, at 1 pm at Dera Hassan Murtaza in Raju Sadat, Chiniot.
Ghulam Murtaza Shah is survived by one son and four daughters.
PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider, KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, Raja Pervez Ashraf, Nayyar Hussain Bukhari, Nadeem Afzal Chan, Sharjeel Inam Memon, Shazia Marri, Shahzad Saeed Cheema, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Chaudhry Manzoor, Rana Farooq Saeed, Usman Malik, Faisal Mir, Chaudhry Aslam Gill and others extended their condolences to Hassan Murtaza.
