Sindhi Culture Day reminds to promote values of tolerance, peace: President
ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari, Sunday, said that Sindhi Culture Day reminded them of promoting cultural values such as tolerance, pluralism, and peaceful coexistence.
He said the culture of Sindh was a symbol of tolerance, peace and national unity. Passing it on to the new generation was a shared responsibility of all.
In a message on celebration of on Sindhi Culture Day, he said the province had the distinction that after its separation from the Bombay Presidency in 1936, it established a unique constitutional and civilizational identity.
“Sindh was the first province whose assembly adopted the Resolution for the creation of Pakistan, thereby playing a decisive role in history,” President Secretariat Media Wing, in a press release, quoted the president as saying.
The president further observed that a large number of Urdu-speaking people resided in Sindh province, thus making it a glowing example of mutual harmony and broad-mindedness.
He said the Sindhi language is among the most developed languages of the country, with dozens of daily newspapers, TV channels and radio stations upholding its strong tradition.
