The Pakistan Navy has conducted a major anti-narcotics operation in the Arabian Sea, with Pakistan Navy Ship (PNS) YAMAMA successfully seizing 1,500 kilograms of hashish valued at around $3 million (Rs841 million).

PNS YAMAMA conducted the interdiction while deployed on a Regional Maritime Security Patrol (RMSP), the Director General Public Relations-Navy (DGPR-Navy) said in a press release.

“The successful operation underscores the Pakistan Navy’s unwavering commitment to combating illicit activities and ensuring security in the maritime domain,” it said.

The navy routinely undertakes RMSP missions to safeguard national maritime interests through robust vigilance and effective presence at sea, the DGPR-Navy said.

The force affirmed its continued proactive role in collaborative and coordinated maritime security efforts with regional and international partners, contributing significantly to a safe and secure maritime environment.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has commended the Pakistan Navy for successfully intercepting the massive drug shipment in the Arabian Sea, preventing the smuggling of 1,500 kilograms of hashish.

The prime minister confirmed that the seized narcotics, intercepted by PNS YAMAMA, were valued at close to $3 million USD.

“Thanks to the strict vigilance and professional expertise of the Pakistan Navy, the complete elimination of smuggling in the seas will be ensured,” he stated.

PM Shehbaz eulogised the navy’s international cooperation, adding that its active role in collaborative and coordinated maritime security efforts with regional and international partners is “highly commendable.”
