LAHORE: An important emergent meeting of the Executive Committee of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) was held under the chairmanship of LCCI President Faheem-ur-Rehman Saigol. The meeting discussed in detail the unfortunate and unprecedented incident that took place a day earlier.

All Executive Committee members strongly condemned the former president, Abuzar Shad, for his inappropriate, unethical, and institutionally unacceptable behavior, calling it one of the most regrettable incidents in the chamber’s history.

According to the report presented in the meeting, Abuzar Shad entered the President’s office without any justification, behaved aggressively, used abusive language, and issued serious threats—including death threats—thereby violating not only the respect of the President’s office but also the sanctity of the entire institution.

Given the seriousness of the incident and the damage caused to the chamber’s reputation, the Executive Committee approved the initiation of disciplinary action under Article 14(i) of the Chamber’s Memorandum & Articles of Association. A show-cause notice will be issued to Abuzar Shad immediately, followed by further disciplinary measures, including possible cancellation of membership, removal from office, and other penalties.

The committee members stated that this incident is not only a direct challenge to the chamber’s discipline and institutional dignity, but also an insult to the entire business community. They clarified that no individual, due to personal grievances or emotional instability, can be allowed to disrespect the institution, its principles, or the office of the President.

LCCI President Faheem-ur-Rehman Saigol, while addressing the meeting, said that such behavior cannot be tolerated under any circumstances and that the chamber’s environment, discipline, and institutional respect will be protected at all costs. He added that major trade and industrial bodies across Lahore have also strongly condemned Abuzar Shad’s actions and expressed complete support for the Executive Committee’s decision.

The Executive Committee reaffirmed its commitment that the institution’s dignity, rules, and ethical standards will never be compromised. The committee also decided to develop a comprehensive strategy to prevent such incidents in the future and to ensure a more secure, respectful, and professional environment within the chamber.
