Pakistan vaccinates over 33 million children in nationwide measles-rubella campaign
- Health ministry says over 284,000 vaccination sessions were monitored to ensure compliance with standards, and reporting accuracy reached 98%
Pakistan has vaccinated more than 33 million children in its 2025 nationwide measles-rubella (MR) and oral polio vaccine (OPV) campaign, achieving over 95% MR coverage, the Ministry of National Health Services said Monday.
The campaign, led by the Federal Directorate of Immunisation, was carried out across all provinces and regions, with health teams reaching remote and high-risk areas through school-based drives, community outreach, and door-to-door mobilisation.
Officials said the results reflect strengthened coordination at national, provincial, and community levels, with most provinces surpassing MR targets while OPV uptake remained high.
Over 284,000 vaccination sessions were monitored to ensure compliance with standards, and reporting accuracy reached 98%, the ministry added.
The ministry said it will conduct its final nationwide polio vaccination drive of the year from Dec. 15 to 21, targeting more than 45 million children.
