Cricket team’s tour:Australian minister, Naqvi discuss security measures
LAHORE: Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi and Australia’s Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke held a video-link meeting on Friday, to discuss security arrangements and bilateral cooperation ahead of the Australian cricket team’s forthcoming tour of Pakistan.
Mohsin Naqvi briefed the Australian minister in detail about the measures Pakistan has planned to ensure the safety of the Australian team. The discussion extended to broader security cooperation and issues of mutual interest, with both sides agreeing to establish a joint working group aimed at expanding bilateral collaboration, sources said.
Both also reached an understanding to strengthen joint efforts against illegal immigration, while exploring avenues for cooperation between Australian agencies and Pakistan’s National Cyber Crimes Investigation Agency and the Federal Investigation Agency.
During the meeting, Mohsin Naqvi invited Burke to visit Pakistan, a gesture that underscored the commitment of both governments to enhancing long-term cooperation. Both also reaffirmed their resolve to further solidify bilateral relations.
