It may be recalled that Afghan interim foreign minister Amir Khan Muttaqi, who was accorded a red-carpet welcome by the BJP-led coalition government during his week-long visit to India a month ago, had leveled several allegations against his country’s most important neighbor, Pakistan, with a view to appeasing his hosts.
While insisting that his country does not provide shelter and sustenance to the militants belonging to Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), an entity which has been carrying out terrorist activities in Pakistan day in and day out, had said that Afghanistan also borders China, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Iran but none of them has any problem with his country. But what has happened a couple of days ago in Tajikistan clearly shows that Afghanistan under the Taliban 2.0 has become a major threat for its neighbors.
According to Tajik authorities, three Chinese workers in Tajikistan were killed in an attack launched from Afghanistan near the border. Pakistan’s Foreign Office has, therefore, rightly condemned the attack, pointing out that the use of armed drones in the incident underlined the “gravity of the threat emanating from Afghanistan and the brazenness of those behind it.”
In my view, it is increasingly clear that the rulers in Kabul have been brazenly pursuing India’s agenda against its principal adversaries Pakistan and China. The world community must take note of growing belligerence of Afghanistan towards its neighbors, including Pakistan. Shahnawaz Khattak
