PM Shehbaz meets Iranian NSC Secretary, vows to strengthen bilateral ties

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday received Ali Ardeshir Larijani, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, at the Prime Minister’s House, the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement.

During the meeting, the prime minister highlighted the historic and fraternal ties between Pakistan and Iran and called for further deepening cooperation across diverse fields.

Larijani, who is on an official visit to Pakistan, reciprocated the sentiment, emphasising the need to enhance bilateral relations in wide-ranging and mutually beneficial areas.

The two sides also discussed major regional and international developments, stressing coordinated efforts to promote peace and stability in the region.

The prime minister appreciated Iran’s principled positions on regional issues and its solidarity with Pakistan during challenging times, while reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to working closely with Tehran for a peaceful and prosperous future.

Dr Larijani expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s support during Iran’s recent 12-day conflict and commended Islamabad’s role in promoting dialogue and diplomacy for dispute resolution.

The Prime Minister conveyed his good wishes to Iran’s Supreme Leader, His Eminence Syed Ali Khamenei, and President Masoud Pezeshkian, thanking them for their support to Pakistan and commitment to stronger bilateral ties.

It was agreed that a delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar will soon visit Iran to further enhance cooperation, particularly in agriculture and connectivity.
