FAISALABAD: Adviser to the prime minister on political affairs and senior PML-N leader Rana Sanaullah said on Sunday that the government remains willing to engage with all political parties to resolve national issues.
Speaking to reporters after casting his vote in the by-elections in Faisalabad, he said the voting process was proceeding peacefully and that no rival candidate or worker had been stopped from campaigning or voting. He added that no complaints had been received from any part of the constituency.
Rana said voter turnout in by-elections typically ranges between 25 percent and 30 percent. He claimed that no arrests or obstacles for opposition voters had been reported throughout the constituency and expressed confidence that the public would once again support the PML-N.
Commenting on the PTI founder, he said it was unfortunate that he was brought into politics despite not being a politician and never engaging in genuine democratic practice. “During his rule, the focus remained solely on registering cases against his political opponents,” he added.
Rana Sanaullah said the prime minister had invited political parties to talks under the proposed Misaq-e-Pakistan, while the PTI founder had refused dialogue with anyone during his tenure. “Democracy progresses through dialogue, but he created a deadlock,” he remarked.
Referring to the May clashes with India, Rana Sanaullah stated that not only the international community but India had also acknowledged Pakistan’s firm response to aggression.
