ISLAMABAD: Zong unveiled its AI Roadmap for Pakistan 2030 initiative at the Pakistan AI Summit 2025, hosted by CxO Global.

The one-day summit held here on Thursday brought together stakeholders from the government, regulators, industry leaders, academia and the corporate sector to collectively shape the country’s digital future.

The summit featured five high-impact panel discussions, keynote sessions and the official unveiling of Zong’s AI Roadmap for Pakistan 2030. It also highlighted the transformational role of artificial intelligence in governance, cloud and data infrastructure, business innovation and social development.

Ali Waqas, Executive Director BSS and IT Infrastructure, Zong said, “Trust is the foundation of responsible AI adoption, and it begins with educating customers on how their data is used and ensuring clear, informed consent wherever personal information is involved. Pakistan now needs a stronger national direction on AI, including defined targets for computing power, robust public–private partnerships, and policies that enable safe data sharing for national research while protecting identity-sensitive information.

The next step is to drive adoption across key sectors so we can unlock productivity, strengthen innovation, and position Pakistan as a competitive AI-driven nation.”

Waqas Munim, Head of Digital Technologies, Zong, outlined the strategic opportunities for AI-driven growth in Pakistan. While presenting CMPak’s AI white paper titled; “Empowering a Smart Future: Building a Trustworthy and Sustainable AI+ Ecosystem”, he said, “Zong is taking a decisive step toward building a human-centric, intelligent future for Pakistan.

Our goal is not to replace people, but to empower them, using AI to enhance networks, transform customer experiences, and create new opportunities across industries. Guided by China Mobile’s global expertise and aligned with Pakistan’s national AI vision, we are committed to deploying ethical, transparent, and secure AI systems that will drive innovation for the next decade and beyond.”

The Pakistan AI Summit 2025 underscored Zong’s position as a frontrunner in technology innovation, empowering the ecosystem with advanced digital infrastructure while fostering knowledge leadership in emerging technologies. As the company continues to expand its AI, cloud and data capabilities, it remains committed to accelerating Pakistan’s digital transformation journey and enabling a future-ready economy.
