King Abdullah II of Jordan arrives in Islamabad on a two-day visit to Pakistan

At the invitation of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, King Abdullah II of Jordan arrived in Islamabad on a two-day visit to Pakistan on Saturday.

Upon arrival in Islamabad, President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Federal Minister for Climate Change Musaddiq Malik and Minister of State for Education Wajiha Qamar welcomed King Abdullah II and his high-level delegation at the airport, the Prime Minister’s Office said.

Expressing his views on the occasion, President Zardari said that King Abdullah II’s visit would give Pakistan-Jordan relations a new strategic dimension. He said that the ties between the two countries are built on historical brotherhood, mutual trust and shared values.

Earlier, as the King’s aircraft entered Pakistani airspace, a formation of Pakistan Air Force JF-17 Thunder aircraft provided a protective escort and accompanied the royal flight to Islamabad, the President House said in a statement.

King Abdullah II’s visit to Pakistan reflects the long-standing brotherly relations between Pakistan and Jordan. This visit will further strengthen the political, economic and cultural ties between the two countries.

King Abdullah II will shortly visit the Prime Minister’s House where he will be presented with a guard of honour, which will be broadcast live on Pakistan Television.

King Abdullah II will hold a bilateral meeting with PM Shehbaz at the Prime Minister’s House and will also hold delegation-level talks.

“This visit of King Abdullah II will further strengthen the long-standing relations between Pakistan and Jordan and will help expand the scope of bilateral cooperation between the two brotherly countries,” the PMO said.
