Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference (ISC): Message from Asif Ali Zardari, President Pakistan

It is a pleasure to welcome the distinguished Speakers and Parliamentary Leaders gathering in Islamabad for the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers' Conference. Parliaments represent the voice of the people and the trust they place in democracy. When legislators meet in dialogue, they help build understanding, stability, and shared progress.

This conference reflects our collective wish to replace division with dialogue and inaction with purpose. Its focus on peace, security, and development speaks to the challenges of our time — protecting human dignity, promoting fairness in growth, and upholding a just international order founded on the rule of law.

I would like to recognise the vision and leadership of the Founding Chairman of the ISC and Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, whose dedication has turned this initiative into a meaningful platform for parliamentary cooperation.

Pakistan believes that compassion, consensus, and cooperation are essential to lasting peace and stability. I hope the conference will deepen parliamentary ties, give greater voice to the vulnerable, and inspire policies that protect our environment, expand opportunity, and secure a peaceful future for generations to come.

I wish Chairman Gilani, the Senate of Pakistan, and all participants every success. May this gathering strengthen harmony, mutual respect, and sustainable progress.
