The 6th of November marks one of the darkest and most tragic chapters in the history of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). On this day in 1947, hundreds of thousands of innocent Muslims in Jammu were mercilessly massacred by the forces of the Dogra regime and armed RSS groups, in a state-sponsored campaign of ethnic cleansing aimed at altering the region’s demographic composition.

This massacre, often described as Kashmiri genocide, symbolizes the systematic attempt to erase the Muslim identity of the region. The tragedy continues to resonate today, as the people of IIOJK face ongoing occupation, arbitrary detentions, communication blockades, and suppression of fundamental freedoms.

The events of November 1947 are inseparable from the unlawful measures of August 5, 2019, when India unilaterally revoked Articles 370 and 35A, launching a deliberate campaign of demographic engineering and intensified repression in blatant violation of international law.

We also remember the Hurriyat leadership, who continue to face prolonged detention and persecution for upholding the cause of their people. Pakistan will persist in highlighting the grave human rights abuses in IIOJK and will stand shoulder to shoulder with its Kashmiri brethren until justice and freedom are achieved.

On this solemn occasion, we pay homage to the martyrs of Jammu and reaffirm Pakistan’s unwavering political, diplomatic, and moral support for the Kashmiri people in their just struggle for self-determination, as enshrined in the relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council, which collectively affirm that the future of Jammu and Kashmir shall be determined through a free and impartial plebiscite under UN supervision.
