KARACHI: Gold prices - locally and globally - saw a big fall on Tuesday, closing under USD4,000 per ounce, according to the All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewelers Association.

The fresh drop pushed the local market to trade gold prices at Rs420,362 per tola and Rs360,392 per 10 grams, down by Rs3,500 and Rs3,001 respectively, the association added.

International market traded gold prices at USD3,980 per ounce, receding by USD35. Silver closed at USD48 per ounce after dropping marginally by USD1.3.

Local silver prices fell by Rs130 and Rs112, reaching Rs5,022 per tola and Rs4,305 per 10 grams, respectively, the association said.

The association announced that the open market may trade gold and silver at different prices as compared to those fixed by it. “No buy or sale, just the idea rate,” it referred to its daily bullion report.
