Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Secretary General Salman Akram Raja announced on Monday that he had decided to resign from the post, citing the need for a “clear-cut decision” following recent developments inside the party.
Raja, who replaced Omar Ayub as the party’s secretary general last year, said he will meet PTI founder Imran Khan on Tuesday to formally request to be relieved of his responsibilities.
“My life is an open book. None of my actions conflicts with any principle. Tomorrow, I will request Imran Khan to step down from the position,” wrote on X.
Raja clarified that while leaving the political position, he would continue to extend legal support to the party.
“During PTI’s ordeal, I stepped into the political arena along with legal assistance under the guidance of Imran Khan. My objective was to contribute to the struggle for the supremacy of the Constitution, law, and democracy,” he said.
Raja did not go into the details of the differences.
