The first commercial aircraft arrived on Monday at the New Gwadar International Airport.

A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight PK-503 from Karachi landed at the largest airport of the country by area.

Passengers including high-ranking officials from the aviation division were also onboard the inaugural flight.

New Gwadar airport: PM looks forward to prosperity

Defence and Aviation Minister Khawaja Asif was present at the ceremony to welcome the passengers at the new airport.

The airport, a flagship project under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), represents an investment of USD 246 million and built with Chinese assistance.

The facility boasts modern amenities, including a world-class terminal building and a runway designed to accommodate large aircraft.

Moreover, officials of Air Security Force (ASF) confirmed the deployment of around 400 security personnel at the airport.

Brand new airport just for 4 flights. 3 to Karachi and 1 to Muscat. The old airport was 70% underutilized. The new one designed to land A380 will be 90% underutilized. This airport was not needed!!

@Az_Iz , While it can be a hub it wont as there's no leadership in Pakistan to ensure that. what you wrote about airport was written about Gwadar port 10 years ago. Not a single foreign ship birthed

@Az_Iz , Brother nothing is free in the world. The interest and inflated project cost Pakistan paid for no bid exclusively china only CPEC projects is so high, that China happy to build airport free.

@Az_Iz , Gwadar cannot be a hub. It lacks population in around the city.
