LAHORE: The Punjab government has collected record tax revenue of over Rs 400 billion through e-Pay Punjab, an online platform for collecting government receipts since its launch in October 2019.

This was disclosed during a progress review meeting of the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) chaired by PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf on Monday. The meeting participants were apprised that the number of online transactions through the system has crossed the mark of 50 million; the trend of online payments by citizens has increased significantly as more than 3 million citizens have downloaded the smartphone application so far.

While addressing the meeting, the PITB Chairman said that new services were also being added to e-Pay Punjab so that citizens can get maximum convenience. The aim is to streamline processes and make government services more accessible to the public.

The e-Pay Punjab, developed by PITB in collaboration with the Punjab Finance Department and 1Link, allows payments to be made via ATM, internet banking, mobile banking or over the counter by visiting the nearest 1Link member banks.
