PM brings role of SIFC under the Gulf focus

  • Pakistan desires to expand bilateral cooperation across all spheres, particularly trade and investment, says Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar
Published January 5, 2024

ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has stated that the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) has been playing an active role to attract investors from the Gulf countries, including Qatar, to benefit from opportunities in key sectors of the economy.

He stated this while talking to the Ambassador of Qatar, Ali Mubarak Ali Essa Al-Khater, who called on the caretaker prime minister on Thursday.

Kakar said that Pakistan and Qatar enjoyed strong fraternal ties.

He expressed Pakistan’s desire to expand bilateral cooperation across all spheres, particularly trade and investment. He also conveyed warm regards to the Amir of Qatar.

PM urges business community to take advantage of SIFC

Emphasizing Pakistan’s focus on the GCC region, he stated that the SIFC was playing an active role to attract investors from the Gulf countries, including Qatar, to benefit from opportunities in key sectors of the economy. He encouraged the ambassador to explore the potential for cooperation in tourism and media sectors.

The prime minister said that Pakistan appreciated the role played by Qatar in diplomatic efforts that led to a temporary ceasefire in Gaza and stressed the need for concerted efforts by the international community, particularly the Muslim Ummah, to bring peace in Palestine.

As this was Ambassador Al-Khater’s first call on the prime minister since presenting his credentials in November, Kakar congratulated him on assuming ambassadorial responsibilities in Pakistan and hoped that the bonds of friendship between the two countries would further strengthen during his tenure.

@kashif , jf17 was needed to develop j10. U cant leapfrog from 0 to 100 in one go. No issues with the air capabolity being enhanced. But pakistan is about islam not just about people living here. We developed nukes to protect all muslims. Gaza sinkiang and kashmit r bleeding. Baluch and kp borders r insecure because we have taken a panga with afghans due to US pressure. Now we r cornered with 2 fronts india and afghanistan and US sitting behind us. Internslly we hsve tsken a panga with the most popular leader again on US command. Whem will we realise american strategic interest is to defang us and their commands r always designed to get us into trouble.

Israel has dropped 65,000 tons (70% unguided) of bomb / missiles (80% are made / supplied by US) in Gaza, equivalent to 3 nuclear bombs (by Hiroshima standard). With 22,000 innocent civilians (mostly women & children's) dead, 10,000 buried under ruble, 90% of city is destroyed... Even that is not enough, now signs of war spill over to entire Middle East (from Arabian sea to Mediterranean), with all major powers mobilized their navies & gearing up for a large scale war. High time for Pakistan needs to fix it's home (systems / economy / resources), instead of relying heavily upon Gulf (investment, remittance, petroleum, LNG, jobs, properties)....
