KARACHI: Additional Chief Secretary Local Government Sindh Manzoor Ali Sheikh said that more bank accounts should be opened immediately for payment of property tax challans and the focus should be kept on increasing the revenue generation and deliverance.

Speaking at review meeting held on the subject of property tax collection, he said that the process of property tax collection should be expedited without any delay targeting all the residential and commercial properties across the province, he directed to expand the tax collection network in all the districts, towns and Union Councils.

Manzoor Shaikh instructed the officers that the property tax challans should be delivered on time, all property tax challans should have correct addresses mentioned in clear words, and no challan should be sent to the government buildings and institutions which are exempted from property tax.

The officers of the Excise and Taxation Department while giving a briefing to the Additional Chief Secretary Local said that with the formal approval of the previous Sindh Cabinet, the property tax collection function has been transferred to the Local Government Department of Sindh, under which the collection of property tax in all the districts of Sindh is now done through the Local Government Department.

The ACS LG directed that the dues of postal services which are delivering the challans should be cleared timely, and the complete log of the returned challans should be maintained indicating the reasons of their return.
