EU organises Business Forum to encourage Pakistani SMEs to boost trade

  • Event attended by representatives of local SMEs from key sectors including handicrafts and carpets, tourism, stone, and gems industry
Published Updated

A senior European Union diplomat said on Tuesday that EU-Pakistan Business Forum was working to enable exporters to reap full benefits from the EU-granted GSP+ concessions to Islamabad.

Addressing the participants of the fourth edition of the EU-Pakistan Business Forum in Peshawar, Chargé d’Affaires of the EU Delegation to Pakistan Thomas Seiler said that the body would also help traders explore bilateral trade opportunities and identify new sectors in order to expand the export base.

“We have come to Peshawar to hold the 4th EU-Pakistan Business Forum, with the hope and confidence that it will widen trade opportunities – especially for the small and medium enterprises”, he added.

The event was attended by representatives of local SMEs from key sectors including handicrafts and carpets, tourism, stone, and gems industry.

It is pertinent to mention that the last three programs were held in Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi on 8 September, 13 October, and 17 November respectively, last year.

For an SME,sales & PPIC will start when they have money So unless the SME has low cost export pre shipment credit at low rates - on declaration basis or on export orders - the entire motion will not begin But export orders cannot come w/o pricing ,& pricing is not possible, w/o costing Costing includes ROI & FX risk, of which FX risk will happen, when you collect or negotiate export docis SO HOW WILL THE SME PRICE ,THE EXPORT THEREFORE SME have to get export Pre shipment on delclaration basis with an indemnity SME have to have a FX hedge product which freezes their NSR,on the DATE OF THE ORDER SME have to get discounting & negotiation facilities on BL SOB SME need factoring & forfaiting facilities for deferred clean credit or LC based exports SME need cheap & competitive export credit insurance.dindooohindoo ALL ELSE THE SME CAN DO IT OWN, SUCH AS, QC,PROCUREMENT,LOGISTICS, PROJECT FINANCING

THUS,EU HAS TO SET UP LINES OF CREDIT FOR FINANCING THE EXPORT SUPPLY CHAIN IN PAKISTAN TO "REDUCE THE LANDED COST" IN EU to the RETAIL in EU IF RETAIL IS VIABLE IN EU - IT WILL GIVE JOBS TO THE PEOPLE IN EU TO MINIMISE THE COST TO EU RETAIL,THE EU HAS MAXIMISE VOLUME FROM PAKISTAN AND MINIMISE THEIR FINANCING AND FX COST PAKISTAN IS EXPORTING TO EU - SKILLED AND UNSKILLED LABOUR AND AGRI (COTTON), IN THE FORM OF FABRIC AND GARMENTS. NO EXPORTER NATION TO EU HAS HAD A FX DERECIATION AS MUCH AS PKR EXPORTERS COSTS ARE MOSTLY IN RUPEES - EXCL SOME IMPORTS AND DEEMED IMPORTS (OIL & GAS) EU IS OUT OF THE MANUFACTURING GAME - EVEN LARGE SCALE MANUFACTURING WILL BE IN TROUBLE - AS THE INDUSTRIAL GRID IS BASED ON GAS BASED POWER AND GAS AS INDUSTRIAL FEED PAKISTAN IS THE ONLY OPTION FOR EU DO LOAD SHEDDING AND DIVERT POWER AND GAS TO EXPORT - TO EARN USD.THE PEOPLE MAY NOT SLEEP WELL - BUT THE GOP CAN THE EXPORT USD AND PROFITS TO LOWER FOOD PRICES - SO THAT PEOPLE CAN EAT WELL !
