KARACHI: The Karachi Port Trust handled 173,818 tonnes of cargo comprising 139,990 tonnes of import cargo and 33,828 tonnes of export cargo during last 24 hours ending on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 139,990 comprised of 32,462 tonnes of Containerized Cargo, 6,686 tonnes of Bulk Cargo, 5,826 tonnes of Soya Bean Seeds, 4,668 tonnes of Wheat and 90,348 tonnes of Oil/Liquid Cargo.
The total export cargo of 33,828 tonnes comprised of 20,648 tonnes of containerized cargo, 2,427 tonnes Cement, 9,225 tonnes of Clinkers, 1,528 tonnes of Rice.
Nearly 3888 containers comprising of 2064 containers import and 1824 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 658 of 20’s and 569 of 40’s loaded while 04 of 20’s and 12 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 288 of 20’s and 348 of 40’s loaded containers while 72 of 20’s and 468 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours. Some 03 ships, namely Atlantic Pioneer, Clemens Schulte and Stolt Ocelot have berth at Karachi Port.
Approximately, 08 ships namel, Kota Nilam, Red Ruby, Hyundai Jakarta, Talassa, DM Emerald, Atlantic Pioneer, Annita and Bow Tungsten have sailed out from Karachi Port.
About 06 cargoes, namely Viking Emerakd, CSS Integrity, Osak, Victory Light, Northern Dedication and One Henry Hudson were likely to arrive on the same day.
