Pakistan reports lowest single-day Covid-19 tally since June

  • Detects 689 new cases at a positivity ratio of 1.62%

Pakistan reported less than 700 cases on October 11 for the first time in over three months as the fourth wave of the coronavirus pandemic eased in the country.

As per the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), 689 people tested positive out of 42,476 tests carried out across the country. The last time the country reported less than 700 cases was on June 21 when 663 people tested positive for Covid-19.

So far, Pakistan has reported 1,259,648 positive coronavirus cases. Out of these, Sindh has reported 463,167 Covid-19 cases, Punjab (436,442), Balochistan (33,083), KPK (176,048), Islamabad (106,201), GB (10,353) and AJK (34,354).

During the last 24 hours, the positivity ratio was recorded at 1.62%, while the active number of cases stand at 41,754.

Meanwhile, the country lost 18 more people to the novel virus, taking the death toll to 28,152. Overall, there are 2,280 critical cases in the country. The country's recoveries increased to 1,189,742 after 1,180 people recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours.

Moreover, 941,911 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine were administered during the last 24 hours, according to NCOC. So far, 92,597,193 doses have been administered in the country.

During the last week reported, Pakistan averaged about 978,412 doses administered each day. At that rate, it will take a further 45 days to administer enough doses for another 10% of the population.
