KARACHI: A week long anti-polio vaccination campaign would be kicked off in Sindh from Monday (June 07 to 13, 2021) during which 9.4 million children would be vaccinated in 30 districts across the province.

To discuss the issues regarding anti-polio campaign, a meeting of the Provincial Task Force for Polio Eradication was held at the Sindh Secretariat on Saturday, under the co-chairmanship of Chief Secretary Sindh Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah and Provincial Health Minister Dr Azra Pechoho. The meeting was attended by Health Secretary Dr Kazim Jatoi, all Divisional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, PPHI, WHO, EOC representatives and other officials.

During the meeting, Health Department informed that the concerned authorities have held pre-campaign meetings in 30 districts of the province regarding the polio drive and the training of polio workers has been completed and all polio workers have been provided with Facemasks, PPEs and other necessary facilities while all the polio workers have also been informed about the measures to prevent heat stroke.

The Chief Secretary Sindh and the Health Minister directed all the Deputy Commissioners to run the polio campaign in full swing in their respective districts. Chief Secretary Sindh Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah said that 100% targets set for polio campaign should be achieved. He directed all the Divisional Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners to further improve their performances regarding polio campaign.

Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah said that people should cooperate with polio workers and vaccinate children up to five years of age against the polio virus.
