LAHORE: With 5,917 active cases in the province, 321 fresh coronavirus cases and five deaths were reported across Punjab during the last 24 hours taking the provincial tally of cases to 106,856 and deaths to 2,390. As many as 14,109 diagnostic tests were done during last 24 hours, taking the tally of tests so far conducted to 1,647,918. With recovery of 17 more patients, the number of recovered patients has reached 97,549.

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar said that citizens should strictly follow anti-corona SOPs for controlling the spread of Covid-19. The best way to save from corona is to follow the SOPs while more strict measures could have been adopted in case of not following Covid-19 SOPs, he added. The sources claimed that majority of citizens as well as senior officers are not following Corona SOPs as they are not wearing masks.

The Punjab Governor, Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar told a delegation that the dangers of Corona still exist; everyone must fully comply with the SOPs. He added that the government has controlled Corona due to its successful smart lockdown policy and there is still need for the people to fully implement SOPs so that Corona can be defeated completely.

Moreover, the Punjab government has issued health guidelines for the Tableeghi Ijtima-2020, which will continue till November 8. Primary & Secondary Healthcare Department (P&SHD) Punjab has published coronavirus awareness booklet containing messages and guidelines on washing hands and wearing face masks to prevent the illness.

According to the provincial health department, an estimated 54,000 people are expected to attend the Tableeghi Ijtima-2020; however, organisers have prohibited anyone under the age of 12 and over 55 from attending the moot. Ahead of the Ijtima, the Lahore Police also chalked out a comprehensive security plan for its first phase of the annual event at Raiwind, the deputy inspector-general (DIH) of police for operations, Ashfaq Khan, said.
