Prices of bricks (A Grade) have increased by Rs.1200 in just one week due the recent ban on brick kilns imposed by the government. Bricks (A Grade) were now prices at Rs.14,200 per thousand bricks.
Special bricks' prices also rose to Rs.18,000 per thousand bricks. Prices are expected to increase further due to this government-imposed ban brick kilns.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) announced that all brick kilns which are not built on the zigzag methodology will not be allowed to operate in Punjab. This ban was imposed to tackle the deteriorating Air Quality Index (AQI) for Punjab, and especially Lahore.
This price hike has disrupted the work flow in the construction industry and has become a cause of concern for laborers across the province.
