Three Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) personnel were martyred while foiling a terrorist attack on a Rangers camp in Karachi, the military’s media wing said on Sunday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the attack took place on Saturday when terrorists belonging to Jamaat-ul-Ahrar carried out a blast at the camp’s main gate before attempting to breach its perimeter.
The ISPR said Rangers troops responded swiftly, killing three attackers and capturing another in an injured condition. It identified the captured suspect as an Afghan national.
Four Rangers personnel were also injured in the exchange of fire.
The military said sanitisation operations were underway to clear the area of any remaining terrorists.
It added that Pakistan’s security forces and law enforcement agencies would continue counterterrorism operations under the Azm-e-Istehkam campaign and vowed to take retaliatory action against those responsible for the attack.
Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir expressed condolences to the families of the martyred personnel, saying their sacrifices reinforced the nation’s resolve to combat terrorism.
