Pakistan to continue working in pursuance of Islamabad MoU, says DPM Dar

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, during a telephonic conversation with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal Bin Farhan Al Saud on Sunday, held an in-depth discussion on recent developments in the region and expressed deep concern over the evolving situation.
Dar reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to continue working towards the prevalence of peace in the region in pursuance of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.
Prince Faisal conveyed that he plans to visit Pakistan on mutually convenient dates at the earliest, which Dar welcomed and expressed the hope that the visit would materialise soon.
In the telephonic conversation, DPM Dar offered condolences over the tragic helicopter crash in Ras Tanura. He conveyed sincere condolences on behalf of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Defence Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, the government, and the people of Pakistan as well over the tragic incident, which resulted in the loss of 14 precious lives.
Prince Faisal thanked his Pakistani counterpart and deeply appreciated the brotherly gesture.
Earlier today, DPM Dar and European Union High Representative/Vice President Kaja Kallas discussed the rapidly evolving situation in the Middle East, stressing the need to uphold the ceasefire agreement and keep communication channels open.
According to the Foreign Office, Dar held a telephone conversation with Kallas during which they reviewed recent regional developments.
Kallas appreciated Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts that culminated in the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
However, she expressed serious concern over recent ceasefire violations and underscored the importance of maintaining open channels of communication.
Dar briefed the EU foreign policy chief on Pakistan’s continued diplomatic engagement aimed at achieving a comprehensive framework for peace and stability in the Middle East.
He also emphasised the need for all parties to adhere to the ceasefire agreement to prevent further escalation.
