Former Australia all-rounder Shane Watson has reportedly announced retirement from all forms of cricket after the final Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Indian Primer League (IPL) game played on Sunday.

CSK took on Kings XI Punjab in their last game and won the match by nine wickets to leave the competition on a high. The veteran all-rounder was not part of the playing XI.

The World Cup winner played his last game against Kolkata Knight Riders on October 29. Throughout the tournament, he had been struggling for form.

The 39-year-old, who also plays for Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Quetta Gladiators, told his CSK teammates about the decision, Times of India citing sources reported.

A source informed the news outlet that the all-rounder was very emotional while revealing the decision to the dressing room

“Watson was very emotional when he told the CSK dressing room after the last game that he would retire. He said that it was a great privilege for him to play for the franchise,” the source was quoted as saying by TOI.

Watson made 11 appearances for CSK in the ongoing IPL and scored 299 runs with help of two half-centuries.

The all-rounder represented Australia in 59 Tests, 190 One-day internationals (ODI) and 58 Twenty20 internationals (T20I). He played his last international match for Australia in 2016 against India in Mohali.
