Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy will help bring Ms. Marvel, Marvel's first Muslim superhero, to the screen in a Disney+ TV series, according to Hollywood Reporter.

The Emmy and Oscar-winning Pakistani director will be joined by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, the duo behind this year's Bad Boys for Life, as well as Meera Menon, whose credits include episodes of The Walking Dead, The Punisher, Titans, Dirty John and Outlander.

The Ms. Marvel comic book series is co-created by Marvel editor and director Sana Amanat and revolves around Kamala Khan, a 16-year-old Pakistani-American teenager living in New Jersey and the first Muslim character to have her own comic book series. The series premiered in 2014 and won the 2015 Hugo Award for Best Graphic Story for its first collected volume, Ms. Marvel Volume 1: No Normal.

According to Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige, in addition to appearing on the small screen, Kamala Khan will also be included in future Marvel films. The studio is currently searching for an actor to play the title role, which explores what it's like growing up as a young Pakistani-American.
