LAHORE: Terming PM Imran Khan as a person full of venom and vengeance, PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif said on Thursday that the PTI chairman is accusing the opposition of speaking the language of India on the FATF (Financial Action Task Force) issue.

"Look! who said this," Shehbaz remarked and recalled that it was "Prime Minister Imran Khan Niazi" who had stated that Modi's victory in India would result in the resolution of Kashmir issue.

Talking to media on his return from Karachi, Shehbaz also reminded the reporters, among others, that Imran was dejected over Modi for not attending his phone call. Talk about any issue faced by the people and the country, and the answer is the NRO by the prime minister and other government members, Shehbaz said.

When asked about the APC, Shehbaz said the Rahbar Committee comprising the members from different opposition parties would meet in Islamabad on Thursday and would make decisions about the timing and agenda of APC. About his visit to Karachi, the PML-N president said the Centre remained limited to statements only amid the crisis generated by unprecedented rains in Karachi and it did not provide any support to Sindh government.

He said Prime Minister Imran Khan should have been in Karachi to monitor the situation but it didn't happen.

The Imran-led PTI government faced its biggest failure in Karachi, he noted. Shehbaz said he had directed the PML-N office-bearers and workers to assist the provincial government in tacking the crisis and providing relief to the Karachiites.

He also said that he met former president Asif Ali Zardari, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and discussed various issues.

He said he also had a detailed discussion with the people of Karachi who praised the PML-N for the progress made on different issues during the 2013-18 tenure.

Earlier in a tweet, Shehbaz Sharif thanked the people of Karachi for the warm reception and enthusiasm shown during his stay.

"Witnessed extreme anger and anguish among the people during my visit to Malir and Gulistan-e-Johar. High time all stakeholders took this outrage as a warning and got down to fixing the rot. No shiny power point (presentation), social media trends/blame game can be [an] alternative to service delivery," he tweeted.

Shehbaz also expressed regret over loss caused by heavy rain in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and demanded immediate steps for formulation of a comprehensive relief plan.

He also demanded financial assistance for people whose houses or crops were damaged due to rains.

Responding to Shehbaz Sharif's media talks, Provincial Minister for Information Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Chohan said that the Opposition leader should look into his own pocket before criticising vibrant and active politician like Prime Minister Imran Khan.

He said Shehbaz Sharif was at large when Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar along with Assembly members and government machinery were busy to combat coronavirus. He said that during the last two years, first time Shehbaz Sharif went out somewhere other than Lahore and Islamabad. He said we were quite hopeful that Shehbaz Sharif will question Asif Ali Zardari about his corruption but all his tall claims were proved merely a lip service.
