SIALKOT: Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PRGMEA) chief coordinator Ijaz A Khokhar has disclosed that garment industry has switch over production to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to capture demanding market share.

Keeping in view the scope of PPEs the garment industry will start manufacturing N-95 and surgical masks as government has allowed the export of the masks. Talking to Business Recorder on Thursday, Khokhar lauded the role of Adviser to Prime Minister on Commerce and Textile as a result of which the government had allowed the export of masks. The government under the dynamic leadership of prime minister was making adequate efforts for boosting exports and to keep the industrial wheel in full motion he said.

Ijaz A Khokhar further stated that government will soon issue notification for the exports of masks and our business community had started the production of masks to grab the global market share. Ijaz said lifting of ban would surely enhance the export volume and open new vistas of industrial development in the country.

Trade and Investment Counselor of Pakistan Embassy in Rome, Khalid Hanif had informed the commerce minister that both these products were currently in high demand in EU because 16 countries out of 27 were heading for second wave of Covid-19.
