KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 98,811 tonnes of cargo comprising 58,640 tonnes of import cargo and 40,171 tonnes of export cargo including 4,104 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargos of 58,640 tonnes comprised of 35,329 tonnes of containerised cargo; 17,518 tonnes of bulk cargo and 5,793 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 40,171 tonnes comprised of 13,659 tonnes of containerised cargo; 501 tonnes of general cargo and 26,011 tonnes of bulk cargo.

As many as 4,104 containers comprising of 2,663 containers of import and 1,441 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 524 of 20's and 1,000 of 40's loaded while 73 of 20's and 33 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 484 of 20's and 134 of 40's loaded containers while 197 of 20's and 246 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were five ships namely Hyundai Privilage, Esperanza, Thor Sky, Kota Kaya and Green Belt carrying containers and chemical respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were seven vessels carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 157,699 tonnes comprising of 142,595 tonnes of import cargo and 15,104 tonnes of export cargo including 1,750 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargo of 142,595 tonnes includes 50,000 tonnes of gas oil; 36,797 tonnes of coal; 10,948 tonnes of palm oil; 13,500 tonnes of soyabean; 2,850 tonnes of chemical and 28,500 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 15,104 tonnes includes 10,354 tonnes of cement and 4,750 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 1,750 containers comprising of 1,500 containers import and 250 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

There were six ships namely ER Tianshan, Skua, Yasa Saturn, Gas Zeus, Four Sky and Silver Hague carrying containers, coal, LPG, gas oil and palm oil respectively expected to sail on Tuesday afternoon.

A total number of nine ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, cement, soyabean, LPG, gas oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as fifteen vessels viz. Symi, Pan Harmony, Bulk Friendship, Besk Halil, Rhodos, Star Monica, Tron Gan, Kamari, Tiger Winter, Al Mahboobah, Golar Maria, Sovereign, BW Colombia, Al-Salam-II and ES Star carrying containers, general cargo, coal, cement, chemical, LPG, gasoline, gas oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were nine ships viz. Maersk Seletar, Symi, Pan Harmony, Bulk Friendship, Besk Halil, Al Mahboobah, Golar Maria, Sovereign and ES Star carrying containers, general cargo, coal, chemical, LPG, gasoline and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Tuesday.

There was one ship namely Maersk Seletar carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday.
