KARACHI: Pakistan Stock Exchange Monday closed on a negative note due to selling by local and foreign investors in various sectors.

BRIndex100 lost 25.18 points or 0.6 percent to close at 4,185.75 points. BRIndex100 hit intraday high of 4,218.77 and intraday low of 4,166.18 points. Total volumes stood at 456.408 million shares.

BRIndex30 decreased by 184.08 points or 0.84 percent to close at 21,671.82 points with total daily turnover of 313.678 million shares.

The KSE-100 Index declined by 168.24 points or 0.42 percent and closed at 40,122.50 points. Trading activities remained low as daily volumes on ready counter decreased to 522.652 million shares as compared to 556.146 million shares traded on previous session.

The foreign investors also remained net sellers of shares worth $1.117 million. Total market capitalization however increased by Rs 17 billion to Rs 7.451 trillion. Out of total 403 active scrips, 210 closed in positive and 173 in negative while the value of 20 stocks remained unchanged.

Unity Foods was the volume leader with 37.368 million shares and gained Rs 0.36 to close at Rs 14.26 followed by Hascol Petroleum that inched up by Rs 0.10 to close at Rs 16.60 with 35.309 million shares. Unilever Foods and Abbott Lab were the top gainers increasing by Rs 210.00 and Rs 38.40 respectively to close at Rs 9800.00 and Rs 698.92 while Sapphire Textile and Engro Corp were the top losers declining by Rs 44.50 and Rs 16.40 respectively to close at Rs 825.00 and Rs 290.71.

BR Automobile Assembler Index surged by 164.43 points or 2.07 percent to close at 8,115.53 points with total turnover of 6.816 million shares.

BR Cement Index decreased by 47.6 points or 0.86 percent to close at 5,456.65 points with 31.819 million shares.

BR Commercial Banks Index lost 41.24 points or 0.5 percent to close at 8,211.93 points with 25.204 million shares. BR Power Generation and Distribution Index declined by 189.06 points or 3.56 percent to close at 5,123.17 points with 67.696 million shares.

BR Oil and Gas Index gained 73.06 points or 1.79 percent to close at 4,155.21 points with 82.890 million shares. BR Tech. & Comm. Index closed at 1,661.29 points, up 12.3 points or 0.75 percent with 50.483 million shares.

Danish Ladhani at JS Global Capital said that the KSE-100 Index closed in the negative trajectory making a high and low of plus 115 points and minus 351 points respectively, to finally close at 40,122 levels, down 168 points.

The market remained rangebound in the session with Financials and Fertilizers being the major shakers today where ENGRO (down 5.3 percent), HBL (down 2.0 percent), MCB (down 0.4 percent) and UBL (down 0.4 percent) closed in the red zone. BAHL closed flat as the bank announced its first half of CY20 consolidated EPS of Rs 6.5 versus Rs 4.0/share in the same period last year with no cash payout.

Moreover, PAEL (up 2.1 percent) announced its first half CY20 LPS of Rs 0.90/share versus EPS of Rs 0.51/share (SPLY) with no cash payout.

Furthermore, HUBC (down 6.2 percent), ENGRO (down 5.3 percent), HBL (down 2.0 percent), EFERT (down 5.6 percent), DAWH (down 2.7 percent) and LUCK (down 1.5 percent) were the major index shakers.
