KARACHI: Lawyers' community Thursday demanded that courts should be opened immediately to resolve the problems of litigants and save the livelihoods of lawyers.

The lawyers from Legal Eagles Forum made the demand at a press conference at Karachi Press Club. They said that for the provision of justice, courts should resume normal working, which were closed due to Covid-19 pandemic.

Javed Haleem, leader of Legal Eagles Forum said that courts function even during the war times so that people receive justice in difficult times. However, courts have been made dysfunctional due to Covid19, which led to violation of human rights in Sindh by turning it into a police state.

Safiuddin Awan Advocate speaking on the occasion that due to closure of family courts in Sindh, hundred thousand women and children have been deprived of their livelihood as they receive their expenses through these courts.

"The justice system has been ruined in the province in the last five months and people are feeling insecure due to closure of doors of justice to them," he added.
