(Karachi) Five people lost their lives while 20 men suffered injuries in rain-related accidents after heavy rainfall and dust storm hit various parts of the city on Monday.

The downpour is part of the monsoon rainfall predicted by Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) which will continue till July 8.

As per details, rain with dust storm hit Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulistan-e-Johar, Clifton, Malir, Shah Faisal and other areas. The hot weather in the metropolis turned pleasant after the downpour. Almost all thoroughfares were submerged in rainwater while traffic jam was witnessed on major arteries.

Power supply to many areas disrupted after the rains lashed the city. K-Electrtic failed to maintain uninterrupted power supply to the city as many feeders tripped with first spell of rain.

Meanwhile, the met office has predicted that this year 10 percent more rains are expected in Sindh as compared to previous year. It also warned of floodings in the province.

Heavy rain with thunderstorm also lashed Hyderabad, Sanghar, Dadu, Jacobabad and Sukkur turned weather pleasant. Following the heavy rainfall in Sukkur more than 70 feeders of SEPCO were tripped.

Several areas including Sukkur, Rohri, Naushero Feroze and other are deprived of power, while the SEPCO spokesperson said that work to restore the tripped feeder is underway and soon the electricity would be restored.
