KARACHI: Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar on Wednesday said that record of Land Department is being computerised so that documents of land and properties could not be altered.The purpose of computerisation is to preserve Land Department's records and save it from being misused. Financial Management Software is being formed and the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation is bearing all its expenses. After completion of the software, all records would be computerised and alteration in bills of salaries, pension and gratuity would not be possible.

The Mayor passed these remarks while talking to officers of Finance Department here. Akhtar said that the work of Land Achieving was initiated last year and the same will continue this year as well so that it could be completed at the earliest.

He said that citizens often complain that their properties' documents are altered or two files of one property are made. Keeping in view their complaints, it was decided to develop a software through which details of every property could be seen with just a click, he added.

The Mayor was of the view that this is technology's era and manual record in every department has almost been replaced by computerised data. Similarly, he said that Challan issued by EState Department are also made computerised.

Akhtar said that now documents of markets and tenants' name could not be altered and if someone does so, it would be a cognizable offence. Strict action would be taken against the violators. He said that he wants to bring inn latest things in the KMC and to equip it with modern technology.
