KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 126,722 tonnes of cargo comprising 62,627 tonnes of import cargo and 64,095 tonnes of export cargo including 4,729 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargos of 62,627 tonnes comprised of 29,577 tonnes of containerised cargo; 23,950 tonnes of bulk cargo; and 9,100 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 64,095 tonnes comprised of 20,899 tonnes of containerised cargo; 41,196 tonnes of bulk cargo and 2,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 4,729 containers comprising of 2,435 containers of import and 2,294 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 464 of 20's and 720 of 40's loaded while 11 of 20's and 260 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 444 of 20's and 532 of 40's loaded containers while 122 of 20's and 332 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were two ships namely Ever Deluxe and Aisha sarwar carrying containers and clinkers sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were four vessels carrying containers, oil tanker and clinkers respectively currently t the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 196,535 tonnes comprising of 154,735 tonnes of import cargo and 41,800 tonnes of export cargo including 3,450 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargo of 154,735 tonnes includes 43,356 tonnes of coal; 42,083 tonnes of LNG; 27,276 tonnes of gas oil; 11,500 tonnes of soyabean; 6,770 tonnes of chemical and 5,985 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 41,800 tonnes includes 41,800 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,450 containers comprising of 1,250 containers import and 2,200 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

There was one ship namely Bochem Antwerp carrying chemical sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while three more ships namely MP The Law, MSC Guilia and Al-Adailiah carrying containers and gas oil respectively is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of eight ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, soyabean, chemical, LNG and gas oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as nine vessels viz. Express Athens, Gottfried Schulte, Dona Bibi, Mytro, Gas Athena, Hafnia Europe, Ploutos, Torm Asfrid and Navig8 Tanzanite carrying containers, soyabean, LPG, gasoline, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were five ships viz. Symil, Maersk Detroit, Gottfried Schulte, Gas Athena and Navig8 Tanzanite carrying containers, LPG and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Tuesday.

There were two ships namely Symil and Maersk Detroit carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday.
