The 112th Annual Sports of the Government College University (GCU) Lahore are being held from Friday. The three-day majestic sports event will start from a grand march-past at the Punjab University Old Campus Cricket Ground in which 26 contingents comprising almost 1,300 students would take part.
GCU Director Sports Khadim Ali Khan said that this would be biggest ever march-past being held at the annual sports of any educational institution in Pakistan. The march-past would be followed by sports competitions including 800 meters race, long jumps, shot put, Javelin throw, high jump and 100 meters girls' race.
Punjab Sports Board Chairman Hamza Shahbaz Sharif MNA will be chief guest at the closing ceremony of the sports gala to be held on Sunday. The sports gala also features vibrant and thrilling Gymkhana events including ministerial staff race, Naib Qasid race, boy's four legged race, cricket ball throw (girls), pillow fighting, staff children race, wheel barrow race, 60 meters race (Old Ravians above 35 years), stilt race, sack race, gymnastic display, obstacle race, gymnastics display, musical chair (ladies), staff members handicap race, male staff race, female staff race and old Ravians handicap race. The Chatti Race among girls and Tug of War between Old Ravians and GCU Sports Board are likely to be the most thrilling events of the sports gala.
