The Bollywood ace director Karan Johar, has landed himself in legal soup, as the Delhi government has slapped him with a legal notice that may result in KJo being imprisoned for five years.

The reason behind the latest controversy is due to the air-time provided to a tobacco company’s advertisement during his show ‘India’s Next Superstar’. As per the reports, the name of Dharma Productions (KJo’s production house) can be seen before the show begins and that is why the notice has been filed against the filmmaker.

Karan Johar reveals Shah Rukh Khan had an attitude problem

Apparently, the Delhi Health Department has filed a case against Karan, Endemol Productions, and Kamla Pasand. Karan has been served with a notice twice for the violation of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA Act) and could be sent to jail for a period of five years and along with a penalty of Rs2,000, Indian media reported.

The health dept has given 10 days to the production house to respond to the notice, failing which, a legal case will follow suit.

Earlier, similar notice was sent to Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment few months back. It was for showing the character of Akshaye Khanna smoking in the posters of ‘Ittefaq’.
