The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Agricultural University of Peshawar, in collaboration with Livestock and Dairy Development Department, KPK, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA), and Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) is going to organise a three-day international workshop on Dairy Sciences" from November, 21 to 23 at the University.
The workshop's main theme is to conversion of dairy farm into viable enterprises through networking with Development and Business Support Agencies, said Dr M Subhan Qureshi, Dean Faculty of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Sciences, Agricultural University KPK.
He said that the more than 250 local and international delegates from neighbouring states, including India, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan would participate in the workshop. He added that the delegates would be comprised on university researchers, extension officers, farmers, technologists, farm researchers, government officials, and development practitioners.
Dr Subhan informed that the workshop would be focused on scientific & Business aspects, especially qualitative and quantities improvement in Livestock products, like milk and meat. The export certification of livestock and dairy products are another major objective of the workshop, he added.
He explained that the present dairy farm system is causing immense threats to human life, like tuberculosis, and Brucellosis diseases are commonly hit the prevailing set-up. He informed that about $73 billion investment in livestock & dairy development sector throughout the country, but the business and government agencies role in the export of animal products was negligible.
Dr Subhan further said that the livestock and dairy quality level is zero, whereas the export of animal products almost very little. He said that the livestock and dairy sector would contribute $30 billion to the export sector. He said that there would also be held a three-day exhibition of livestock and dairy products, like, medicines, equipment and animal feeds.
