A four-day "AO Advance Course on Fracture Management" will be held here at Shalamar Medical and Dental College, Lahore from Sunday (today). During the course, held under the auspices of AO Foundation Switzerland, the participants will be apprised about operative care of complex fractures and high energy injuries. The international faculty participating in this course is coming from UK, Colombia, Jordan, Egypt and Belgium.
Professor M A Wajid, Course Chairman said: "Such type of events and training programme are integral part of orthopaedic surgeons training to learn new skills and improve the standard operative skills." The participants of the course are practicing orthopaedic surgeons from all over the country.
The course will focus on advanced concepts of fracture surgery which will taught by lectures. The skills will be taught on artificial bones under direct supervision of the course faculty. The participants will also be taught minimal invasive (key hole) surgery. This is a developing area in orthopaedics with a lot of benefits to the patients.
