This winter season is made for mugs of hot chocolate, coffee and eggnog, but these are not best for your health. There are many healthy alternatives that are flavorful and can keep you toasty this winter.

Stay warm and healthy this winter with these drinks.

Ginger Tea

  • 3 ounces thinly-sliced ginger root
  • 1 cup water

Boil 1 cup water with ginger and then strain. Add honey to taste.

Hot turmeric milk

  • 2 cups unsweetened milk
  • 1/2 cup light coconut milk
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch cayenne
  • Pinch nutmeg

Heat liquid mixture on stove on low-medium heat until it has come to desired temperature. Add all dry ingredients to a blender and mix until well-combined. Serve immediately.

Russian Tea

  • 8 cups of water
  • 1 tsp organic whole cloves
  • 1 small cinnamon stick
  • 2 teabags
  • 1 cup Orange juice
  • 1 cup Pineapple juice
  • 1 cup Apple juice
  • ¼ Lemon juice
  • 1 cup sugar

Bring water to a boil and turn off heat. Add tea bags and spices. Cover and leave for 5 minutes. Remove tea bags and spices from water. Add sugar and juices. Mix well and reheat.

Hot caramel chocolate

  • 2 cups milk, preferably whole
  • 1/4 - 1/2 cup bittersweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce
  • Sweetened whipped cream or vanilla marshmallows
  • Grated chocolate for garnish

Heat milk in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Once milk is warm, stir in chocolate chips and caramel, and cook whisking constantly until chocolate has melted. Allow to cool slightly and serve warm topped, topped with sweetened whipped cream or miniature marshmallows, drizzle each serving with 1 Tbsp caramel sauce and garnish with grated chocolate if desired.

Hot vanilla tea

  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 tsp tea powder
  • Sugar to taste
  • ½ tsp vanilla essence

Take milk, tea and sugar in a sauce pan and heat. Bring it to a boil. Simmer for 5 mins. Strain it. Add some vanilla. Mix well. Serve hot.
