Former captain and national team head coach Waqar Younis has said that players will need to solve the fitness issue, as they eye to take on New Zealand in just a couple of weeks time.

As per media reports, Waqar said that Pakistan's players are talented but they will need to be healthy, for which undergoing a fitness test is very important and it will improve the team's national performance.

Waqar was of the view that maintaining the level of performance shown at the recently concluded Champions Trophy would be a challenge for Pakistan against the Kiwis, Down Under.

Earlier, fast bowler Junaid Khan was dropped from the tour of New Zealand after suffering a hairline fracture in the left foot, sustained during the Bangladesh Premier League.

Meanwhile, Pakistan is scheduled to play five ODI and three T20Is between January 6 and January 28. Pakistan selectors are expected to announce the squad later this week.
