A complaint against Bollywood actor Salman Khan and actress Shilpa Shetty was registered in Mumbai’s Andheri police station for allegedly using offensive words against the scheduled castes.

The two Bollywood stars allegedly made some offensive and derogatory comments on the scheduled castes in their TV shows. The particular community reportedly felt humiliated and insulated because of which they lodged a complaint against both the celebrities.

Salman and Shilpa used the word ‘bhangi’ in separate TV shows, irking the whole community. Earlier on Friday, the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) had sought a reply from the Information and Broadcasting Ministry and the police commissioners of Delhi and Mumbai over complaints lodged against them.

Mid-day reported that the NCSC had asked to file a reply on the action taken against the actors as per the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Prevention of Atrocities Act, 2015, within a week. A notice was immediately issued after the registration of the complaint by the commission.

Ex-chairman of the Delhi Commission for Safai Karamcharis, Harnam Singh, in his complaint said that the actors used the word 'bhangi' in TV shows, which clearly insults the entire Valmiki community of the world.

During the promotion of his movie ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ Salman used this word while referring to his dancing skills. Whereas, Shilpa had reportedly used the word to describe how she looks at home.
