KARACHI: Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafiq has said that the revival of Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) project is now on `right track'.

There is no difference of opinion with the Government of Sindh with regard to the KCR', the Minister remarked during a visit to the Karachi City Station on Saturday.

On the occasion the Divisional Superintendent, Ejaz Buririo, gave a detailed briefing to the minister.

The Minister later told media that the government has enhanced the revenue of Pakistan Railways and has updated the organization.

He was of the views that the shortcomings of the past seven decades are being removed gradually.

Khawaja Saad Rafiq informed that in the third quarter of the year 2018, work would be initiated on Karachi-Peshawar mainline ( ML One)- an important project of Pak-China Economic Corridor (CPEC).

The Minister said that he had met with the Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Murad Ali Shah, on Friday and that there is no difference of opinion with the provincial government with regard to the KCR.

He stated that efforts are being made to raise the salaries of the personnel of Railways Police with those of the Police Department.

In February, Karachi-Hyderabad-Mirpurkhas train project would be initiated.

In the next three years, no bogie of the Railways would be in a `bad shape', the minister assured.

The minister said that operation against Land mafia will continue to recover the railways land.

He said that since 1985 for the first time, twelve freight trains are being run by PR.
